  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 chicken hamburger buns, torn into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup dill pickles, chopped
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 8 slices American cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef with diced onion and minced garlic in a skillet until cooked through.
  2. Drain excess grease and mix in Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Combine torn hamburger buns with melted butter in a bowl.
  4. Whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, relish, mustard, vinegar, sugar, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder to make the special sauce.
  5. Layer half of the bun mixture in a greased baking dish followed by half of the beef mixture and half of the special sauce; repeat layers.
  6. Top with shredded lettuce, pickles, diced onion, and American cheese slices. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes until bubbly.
