  • 140 g unsalted butter (room temp)
  • 100 g neutral oil
  • 283 g whole milk (room temp)
  • 2 eggs (room temp)
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 227 g unsalted butter (room temp)
  • 12 oz cream cheese (cold)
  • 340 g powdered sugar (sifted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two round cake pans by greasing and lining them with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and spices.
  3. Cream unsalted butter and dark brown sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, followed by oil and vanilla.
  4. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients alternating with milk until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter between the pans and bake for about 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow cakes to cool before frosting with cream cheese frosting made from butter, cream cheese, and powdered sugar.
