Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons espresso powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup finely chopped dark chocolate
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon melted chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon espresso powder

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter, room temperature eggs, and salt to the mixture. Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth, then let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (about an hour).
  4. For the filling, mix softened butter with brown sugar, espresso powder, and cinnamon.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread the filling evenly over it. Sprinkle chopped chocolate on top.
  6. Roll tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal slices. Place in a greased baking dish.
  7. Cover and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for approximately 25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. While baking, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, melted chocolate, and espresso powder until smooth.
  10. Drizzle glaze over warm rolls before serving.
