  • 4 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 3 1/2 cups + 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 cup whole or 2% milk (warmed to 110°F)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 beaten egg, for brushing the tops
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • flaky sea salt (for finishing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and butter the bottom of a 9×13 pan.
  2. Melt butter over low heat and add minced garlic; remove from heat after fragrant.
  3. In a stand mixer bowl, combine flour, parsley, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  4. Stir in warmed milk, egg, and cooled garlic butter until a soft dough forms.
  5. Knead for 10–12 minutes until smooth; shape into balls and place in the pan.
  6. Cover and let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (1–2 hours).
  7. Brush with beaten egg wash before baking for 20–30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Prepare additional garlic butter while baking; brush over hot rolls and sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
