  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 package instant yeast (or 2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 cup whole milk (warmed)
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup softened butter
  • ¼ cup hot cocoa powder
  • 15 large vegan marshmallows
  • ½ cup cream cheese (room temperature)
  • ½ cup to 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. In another bowl, combine warm milk and melted butter.
  3. Create a well in the dry ingredients and add the milk mixture and egg; knead until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with plastic wrap until doubled in size (about 30 minutes).
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle (16×9 inches) and spread softened butter over it.
  6. Sprinkle hot cocoa powder on top before rolling tightly from one long side and sealing edges.
  7. Slice into even pieces and place in a greased pan; let rise again until puffy.
  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F and bake rolls for about 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
  9. For frosting: Microwave vegan marshmallows until melty; mix in softened butter, cream cheese, and powdered sugar until creamy.
  10. Spread frosting over warm rolls and enjoy!
