  • 315 g all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • Red gel food coloring

Instructions

  1. Cream the softened butter and powdered sugar together until fluffy.
  2. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract; mix until combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Gradually add to wet mixture until a soft dough forms.
  4. Divide the dough in half; tint one half with red gel food coloring. Wrap each portion in plastic wrap and chill for about an hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Roll equal portions of red and white dough into thin ropes, twist them together into candy cane shapes.
  6. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 8 to 10 minutes until set but not browned. Cool before serving.
