Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup (for glaze)
  • 1–2 tbsp milk (as needed for consistency)
  • 1 tbsp melted butter (for glaze)
  • Pinch of salt (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and maple syrup; mix until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Gradually combine with wet ingredients until just mixed.
  5. Chill the dough for at least one hour.
  6. Scoop tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are golden but centers remain soft.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, melted butter, and a pinch of salt. Start with one tablespoon of milk; add more as needed until you achieve a smooth but spreadable glaze.
  10. Spoon the glaze over cooled cookies, letting it spread naturally across each cookie's center. Allow it to set at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
