  • 2 Tablespoon butter (for frosting)
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1/8 teaspoon maple flavoring
  • Dash of salt (for frosting)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for drizzle)
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoon milk (for drizzle)
  • 1 Tablespoon pure pumpkin puree (for drizzle)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (for drizzle)
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg (for drizzle)
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger (for drizzle)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a large bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices.
  2. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles pea-sized crumbs.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together pumpkin puree, milk, and egg until smooth.
  4. Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry until just combined; if using chocolate chips, add them now.
  5. Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead lightly before shaping into a round about ½ inch thick.
  6. Cut into triangles and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden.
