  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar (lightly packed)
  • 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 3 Tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon (for glaze)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)
  • Pinch of salt (for glaze)
  • 34 Tbsp heavy cream or milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F and line an 8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixer, cream together softened butter and brown sugar until smooth; mix in the egg, confectioners’ sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until combined.
  3. Divide the dough in half; press one half into the bottom of the prepared pan and shape the other half into an 8×8 inch square.
  4. For the filling, mix brown sugar, ground cinnamon, flour, and melted butter; spread this over the dough in the pan.
  5. Place the reserved dough square over the filling and bake for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool completely before glazing with a mixture of confectioners' sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, salt, and cream.
